Horror video games work because they force the audience to be directly in the mix, you can't just be a passive observer. Whereas horror movies are scary because they are crafted with the idea that audience is stuck as a passive observer. When stories are crafted for the video game experience, it can be difficult to really translate that experience to the silver screen effectively? Is Five Nights at Freddy's even concerned with any of this or is it just a fan service movie wearing a horror movie's skin? Maybe that's a little harsh, lets talk about it.
